moonmambo’s artistic reality is a tragic reality that comes from the international experience of the young artist previous work experiences in the Netherlands, Germany, London, her works are represented by several European Art Galleries and by a Los Angeles based Art Gallery too. In a complex world of juxtaposition and opposition, moonmambo’s art is deep and recognizable trying to stabilize an ever-changing reality and to keep up the places of memory for everyone. The memory belongs to everyone, not the remembrance, but a collective memory that has no connotations and no policies. We all come from the same place, from the same amniotic fluid. This is how the individual has the impression that moonmambo’s artistic asyndeton is not accidental, it is not a mere juxtaposition, instead, it is sincere philosophical research, denoted in its immediately identifiable signs.
The artist’s research starts far away in history, from myths and classical Greek and Roman figures, with Impressionist, poses and in somehow Dadaist influences.
The artist, Teresa, is not here to discommode the Masters of the past, tautological when her characteristic “no-faces” dramatically tell us that we no longer see reality, as we are living in a desert of feelings: we are annihilated, inert, cynical even in front of the most terrible images.
This is why the figures of moonmambo seem to strike a pose, look fake, they seem lacking spontaneity and appear depersonalized. Because they are painfully oblivious both of the past they were born into and nourish themselves from, and of the future which they should aim at. The artistic interweaving of the bodies of Teresa’s works must be led back to the interweaving ideas, to the fusion of thought. The crisis of refugees and those persecuted wouldn’t make sense if we set our minds into the interweaving and the melting of ideas. It is not about our cultural differences, but it is the yearning for power and its abuse which brings distance among us, and the art of Teresa Orazio shows us the way interweaving and mixing would lead the way to come closer to each other.
Innocent. Sexy. Supple. Tangible. Confident. The figures in moonmambo’s art embody all of these characteristics and more. moonmambo, also known as Teresa Orazio, manages to capture the many layers of intimacy and intrigue of the human body, despite the fact that her characters are highly abstracted. But the curve of a thigh or slight twist of a neckline say more than photorealism ever could, heightened even further by skin hues of soft peach, cool blue, or bold red. A study of relationships, individuals, and the way the two melt together, Teresa’s art inspired this truly tactile edition of Vinyl Moon. moonmambo draws inspiration from European renaissance art, Cubism, Constructivism, and her own photography. Her favorite medium is the bare wall, though Teresa is equally comfortable on paper, posters, canvas, and the digital screen.
